Chinese Calligraphy & Painting Workshops: Chinese New Year

Chinese Calligraphy & Painting Workshops: Chinese New Year
I have been teaching the entire 3rd grade at
PS 261 Elementary School
in the Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn.

The student's work is unfettered by human opinion, not earthbound,
truly inspirational.

We began the workshop learning some of the Chinese characters
used for the Lunar New Year: Spring “春 (chūn)”, Blessed "福(fú)"
and Fish "魚 (yú)" to practice brushstrokes.
The Chinese character or Fish represents "abundance" of
health, wealth, love and much more for the New Year so the
students painted their version of the Koi fish.

Funded in part by the PS261 PTA's Arts Committee.
