I have been teaching the entire 3rd grade at
PS 261 Elementary School
in the Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn.
We began the workshop learning some of the Chinese characters
used for the Lunar New Year: Spring “春 (chūn)”, Blessed "福(fú)"
and Fish "魚 (yú)" to practice brushstrokes. The Chinese character Yú or Fish represents "abundance" of
health, wealth, love and much more for the New Year so the
students painted their version of the Koi fish.
